Lots of people say when the satellite Sputnik was launched into orbit, it prompted Americans to build the Internet. Sputnik was developed by the U.S.S.R. in 1957. It is the first hand built radio transmitter satellite. It caused the American government to invest more money into science. which later created, The National Defense Education Act. (aka financial aid)
